Labradorite is said to be named after the Aurora Borealis. It is believed that the Northern Lights were set free when an Ancestor of a native Canadian tribal broke through the rocks in the region Labrador. The remaining lights were captured and set into stone: Labradorite. Labradorite is found in Canada, Madagascar, United States, Russia, Finland and many other places. In Finland, they named this stone the ‘Spectrolite’ as it seems to catch every tone in the spectrum of light and color.
